Forensics Digital Recorder

In the past few years telephone company voice messaging and home answering machines have been upgraded to digital (tapeless) systems. This has left the user with no effective way to transfer the message to another medium, such as tape or CD, for long-term preservation or for forensic investigation. Attempts to transfer these messages to tape or computer by holding a microphone to the phone handset earpiece, or by using an inexpensive telephone line recorder such as those available at consumer electronic stores ($20-$100), usually results in low amplitude, poor fidelity, high noise such as hum and/or hiss, and even perhaps distortion caused by over modulation or inappropriate bit rate and sample rate. This method of transfer can even result in the message being unintelligible. Clients have spent hundreds or thousands of dollars attempting to make these recordings intelligible. If we provide this service, the end product is vastly superior to anything you can accomplish with a recorder.

How it works:

1. Gat3 will call your voice messaging service or answering machine.

2. The message is played over the telephone line directly into the Gat3 digital system.

3. The message is then transferred to CD and sent to you.

4. You can then change your password to retrieve messages (we will not erase your message).

Digital Voice Recorders
Gat3 has seen digital voice recorders (recorders that do not have any tape) become more popular in recent years. This again, leaves the user with no way to transfer the recorded material effectively. Transferring the material to another medium (such as cassette) will usually degrade the signal tremendously.

How it works:

1. Make certain your recorder has a fresh set of quality batteries. Be sure to follow the instructions with the unit so as not to erase any material.

2. Carefully and properly package the recorder to prevent shipping damage and send to Gat3. Please send the unit via a next day delivery service as it is best to minimize the time in transit. Also include the instruction manual for the unit if possible.

3. The recording is transferred directly into the Gat3 digital system.

4. A CD of the material and the digital recorder will be sent to you.
